Ducati marketing has always been, win on Sunday, sell on Monday, so it should come as no surprise to understand that the beautiful Ducati 748R was really only built for homologation purposes. After realising the enormous potential of it’s 916, the factory set sights on winning both the World Superbike Championship, and World Supersport Championship, classes recognised as the ultimate showroom for the world’s best Sport’s bike manufacturer.

Built in much lower numbers than the 996R and 998R variants, the 748R featured an equal, and in some areas superior, number of upgrades over its bigger brothers. Titanium valves and con-rods, larger carbon airbox and a bespoke shower fuel injection system, Ohlins forks and shock, plus a slightly narrower rear tyre awarded the 748R much better handling over the bigger variants.

2003 was the final year for the limit production of 748R’s, and this example is one of the finest to have been preserved in beautifully original condition, save for a few minor accessories. Fitted with non-oem reservoir caps, foot pegs & fast by Ferracci clip-ons, the oem replacements for all these parts can be easily sourced for anyone wanting a bike in perfectly original spec. Having seen only 14,500k’s use in 19 years, this bike is located in NSW and currently being detailed and prepared for sale.
