1956 Aristocraft Torpedo 14’ speedboat

The beautiful mahogany hulled Aristocraft Torpedo Speedboats were originally built in Georgia, USA, from 1956 until 1959. From 1960 onwards the manufacturer changed to fibreglass construction. Their timber models were extremely light, weighing-in at only 136kg. A high-performance design, many were raced achieving continued success well after their timber construction had ended.

The Torpedo is today, considered sensational, and for many years owners have seen the value in restoring them back to original condition. Owing to their popularity, and the unusual fact that the original manufacture had survived, owners were, and continue to be able to access the original jigs and hardware.

As a further indication of their popularity, in 2000 Aristocraft re-introduced the model to the modern production range, and whilst the later boats were nearly identical to the early version, enthusiasts and collectors clearly prefer the original item. As a comparison, a modern version will cost approximately $15k USD without the outboard motor or trailer, making this spectacular original example exception value.
