1915 BSA 500
In 1915 there was a choice between two BSA versions of the 500. One, the 85 x 88 3.5hp model, while the other an 85 x 98 4.25hp model. This latter more powerful machine was ideally suited to the growing popularity in sidecars. The 4.5hp version also had a three-speed BSA gearbox with foot controlled clutch, a feature introduced in 1914. It also sported the double barrel BSA carburettor. Both models could be had in chain/belt or an all encased chain only drive, the latter of which rose the sale price by a staggering three pounds and five shillings.
This particular example is the 4.5hp version. As the photographs show, it has been beautifully, and correctly, restored using all the original parts. Prior to restoring the bike was maintained in perfect patina, making this a very unique example that still retains almost of its originally fitted parts, including the original basket, tool kit and handbook.
The asking price is well below replacement value.
